Where to begin...

I thought I had a grip on reality.

As it turns out, I really don't think I do.

How much can a single human being effect their environment and subsequently the world, by trying to live a more "sustainable" life?

Does sustainable have a valuable meaning anymore? Is anything we put in the recycling bins actually getting recycled? Am I making an impact if I drive less or cut back on eating meat? Am I a better human being if I never buy anything in plastic wrapping and reuse the plastic I do have until It tears and breaks down. Am I driving myself and everyone around me crazy trying to move the needle a fraction when giant corporate monoliths could break the Richter scale? Am I trying to be better to the planet only for the sake of my ego or do I actually care?

Where does meaningful change begin?

In lieu of being able to visit one of the nearby ancient cities to do a botanical survey, let me write about another plant that I happened to come across just outside our property line this morning.
